Ras Lanuf Terminal

The oil exporting port of Ras Lanuf, which started its operation in 1964, is located at the gulf of Sirt on the North Africa coast, at a distance of 650KM from Tripoli, and 450km west from the coastal city of Misurata. The port facilities are located 3km away from the Company's Ras Lanuf office complex which stands at 20m above sea level and consists of administration offices, industrial areas, and staff housing facilities.

The Ras Lanuf storage reservoirs are located at a distance of approximately 9 km inland from the port area. There are 3 main pipelines which feed the 13 oil storage tanks which are located at an altitude of approximately 100m above sea level and offer a capacity of 6.5 million barrels of oil. The tanks location allow for the nature flow of oil to reach the port area under the force of gravity. Oil is metered before entering into the tanks. It is then filtered under full control, stored in a recovery tank prior to delivery to the tankers that are anchored in the harbor.

Oil is loaded to the tankers via the use of four offshore berths. Berths 1 & 2 are of the roadstead conventional submarine type and are located approximately 1 mile from the coast. They are designed to handle tankers from 30,000 to a 100,000 metric tons dead weight (DWT) and with a maximum draft of 18 metres. Loading is achieved by natural flow at a maximum loading rate of 52,000 barrels per hour.

Berths 3 & 4 are single buoy moorings and are located approximately 2 miles offshore. They are designed to handle tankers of up to 30,000 DWT utilising nozzles of 2x16 inch apertures with a top draft of 23 metres, and at a maximum loading rate of up to 46,000 barrels per hour.
